Photo of the Week...Something New

I can't tell you how excited I was to be selected as one of the winners of Linda's (The Window of My Life) Christmas give a way. A lighted container full of hand picked shells from her favorite spot in the world, Anna Marie Island, FL. I was notified that the package was on it's way and I watched eagerly for it's arrival. The mail carrier brought it directly to our door on Saturday morning. She knew it was too important and impressive to leave at the box on the highway. As I carefully peeled away the bubble wrap I felt a soft spot. Much to my dismay, the container was broken. For a minute I was upset, not because the glass was broken, but because I knew Linda put her love into gathering, arranging and packing this lovely gift. I looked around at my own supplies and found a container that was just a bit large so scrambling now, I pulled a box of sand that my best friend brought back this summer from her vacation to Cape San Blas, FL. What a perfect combination, treasures from an old friend and treasures for a new friend.

I have also included a picture of how the container looks with the overhead lights on. My only delima now is whether to take the container to my work site so I can enjoy it during the day, or to leave it at home, on my computer desk, so that I can enjoy it during the evenings. As my youngest used to say, sissions, sissions, sissions.

Now I need to work on my photography skills.

Have a great day! Shelly

  1. Lucky YOU! A shame about the breakage but I'm glad you were able to work something else out so it can still be displayed as Linda's beautiful!

  2. Aww.. I'm so sorry it broke. I feel awful about that. I'll have to make it up to you. But how great that you made the best of a bad situation and was able to combine the shells with things from an old friend. You must be the type that always sees the glass half full- good for you!

I still stuggle to take decent photos and I've been working at it for several years. I think your photos look pretty damn good ;)

  3. So glad Im a part of this,,see the sand will be with you always and what a best way to use it but I really did like Evy's way..
    I love the pic too

  4. oh, no..... darn it anyway! What a shame! But, as LInda looks great how you arranged it..... I'd leave it home to enjoy it in the proper light in the evenings.....

  5. Oops! I don't know what happened to the comment I just wrote! Anyway, I'm sorry the glass broke, but congratulations on winning Linda's giveaway! It's still quite beautiful in your container. Enjoy!!!
